4th of July Turkey Burgers

In honor of 4th of July, this year we collaborated with Colorado’s own Blue Owl Preserves and Fruit Spreads to create a delicious recipe worthy of serving on this fun summer holiday. We created this recipe to spark Fireworks and it surely will not disappoint. So fire up that grill and wow guests with these out of this world turkey burgers.

Turkey Burgers with Fireworks Ginger Miso Butter Mushrooms and Blue Owl Mixed Berry Preserves

Serves 4 medium size burgers

For the burgers:

1 lb ground turkey

1 diced green onion

1/4 tsp. wasabi powder (optional)

1/4 tsp. ground cardamom or cumin

1/2 red pepper diced finely

2 Tbs. coconut aminos

1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger grated

1Tbs. fresh lime juice

2-4 Tbs Fireworks Ginger Miso butter, divided

1 package Hamburger Buns

Lettuce leaves

Cilantro leaves (if you like cilantro)

Fireworks Ginger Miso Mushrooms*

1 Tbs Blue Owl Preserves Mixed Berry Fruit Spread

Directions:

Clean grill grates and oil them with vegetable oil on a paper towel or silicone brush. Pre heat grill to 500.

In a medium size mixing bowl thoroughly mix ground turkey with all the first 9 ingredients, including 1 Tbs. ginger miso butter and form into 4 burger patties, 1/2" thick and put on parchment paper lining a baking sheet or plate. The mixture is a little sticky so make sure your grill is well oiled and clean. Place the patties on the hot grill and cook for about 8 minutes a side or the internal temp is 165 degrees. Warm the buns on the upper grill grate. When patties and buns are finished, spread the ginger miso butter on the bottom bun, place patty on top, layer with mushrooms, lettuce, cilantro and spread top bun with the mixed berry fruit spread.

*Fireworks Ginger Miso Mushrooms

8-10 Cremini Mushrooms, rinsed, dried and sliced, 1/4" thick

2Tbs Ginger Miso butter

Directions:

Melt butter over very low heat. The ginger has a naturally high sugar content so it will burn if not watched carefully. Add the mushrooms and saute’ low and slow for about 20 minutes or until all moisture is rendered from the mushrooms. Stir occasionally to make sure butter is spread evenly. Use to top on the turkey burgers when cooked through. These mushrooms are also great to have on hand for seasoning steaks, baked potatoes or other sandwiches. Enjoy!
